Scott Janowitz, born and raised in Miami, FL, graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and minors in both Social Decision Systems and Business. Mr. Janowitz began his professional career as a technology and business consultant for Fortune 500 clients for three years before deciding to go to law school.
After graduating from the University of Miami School of Law in 2005, Mr. Janowitz began his legal career at the State Attorney’s Office for the 17th Judicial Circuit. As an assistant state attorney, Mr. Janowitz prosecuted criminal cases for over three years, rising to the level of lead felony attorney for his division. Mr. Janowitz handled thousands of cases involving both misdemeanor and felony charges, including drug possession, drug trafficking, driving under the influence, theft, burglary, robbery, battery, aggravated battery, arson, attempted murder, fraud, embezzlement, and others. Mr. Janowitz tried over 80 criminal jury trials during his tenure.
Mr. Janowitz then spent over five years representing various insurance carriers and other corporate entities in both first and third party insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. He counseled clients at each step of the insurance claim process, including pre-suit investigation, policy interpretation and analysis, claims management, fraud investigation, and negotiation of claims through litigation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Janowitz tried numerous jury and non-jury civil trials in both state and federal court.
Starting in 2015, Mr. Janowitz has represented policyholders, by using his knowledge and experience dealing with insurance companies to assist policyholders. Mr. Janowitz is an AV-rated attorney in both the criminal and insurance fields. He is admitted to the Florida Bar as well as the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. Additionally, Mr. Janowitz is admitted to the Colorado Bar and the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
